For the past 45 years I have roamed the ever evolving landscapes of California’s mountains and deserts. With each exploration the creations I came across of wind, rock and water perennially inspired me when I returned to my studio.
My work in the studio is a personal manifestation of these sights, sounds and smells molded into three-dimensional forms. To accurately reflect these majestic forms, I choose materials on transitions through each stage of the process. Moving between the cool clay and molten metals, I connect with the Earth’s own geological evolution, allowing these forms to evolve into sculpture. As I work through chasing the metal, I am reminded of the radical natural transformations I have witnessed first-hand.
My sculptures are my personal records, not recorded with a camera but with my own awe and wonder. My life’s work is to articulate into form the effects of the physical landscape on my mind and spirit.
